Goole's Second XV produced an excellent away performance on Saturday, overcoming Sheffield's Third XV 19–12 to secure a well-earned victory in South Yorkshire.
Travelling to Sheffield is never an easy assignment, but Goole rose to the challenge, delivering a determined team performance to claim an impressive win against their hosts. The visitors crossed for three tries during the contest, with Scott Ross getting his name on the scoresheet alongside brothers Ben and Harry Whiteley, who ensured it was a memorable family afternoon with a try apiece.
Archie Owen added two successful conversions to take Goole's tally to 19 points, with those valuable extras ultimately helping to secure a seven-point winning margin. While the tries will deservedly attract the headlines, this was very much a collective effort. Goole demonstrated the commitment, teamwork and determination required to secure victory away from home, restricting Sheffield to just 12 points.
The result represents another encouraging performance from the Second XV, highlighting the quality and spirit within the wider senior playing squad at Westfield Banks. With three different try scorers and a solid defensive showing, there were plenty of positives to take from the afternoon.
A terrific away result for the lads, and special congratulations to Ben and Harry Whiteley on making it a family double on the scoresheet!
