Goole 2nd XV travelled to face Scunthorpe’s development side and, in a contest far closer than the final score suggests, were ultimately defeated 33–12.
Despite the margin, Goole produced a committed and competitive performance throughout, matching their hosts for long periods and showing plenty of resilience in both attack and defence.
Goole’s points came courtesy of two well-taken tries from Tom Drury, who proved a constant threat with ball in hand. Harry Woolard added the extras with a conversion to complete the visitors’ scoring.
While the scoreboard may indicate a comfortable win for Scunthorpe, the reality on the pitch told a different story, with Goole pushing their opponents and competing strongly across the park.
There were plenty of positives to take from the performance, with the side continuing to develop and gain valuable experience against strong opposition.
