Goole 2nd team entertained Scarborough at Westfield Banks, unavailability meant they only had 14 players so Goole loaned them a player to ensure an even sided game. Unfortunately for the visitors the addition of Fats Okotete to their ranks wasn’t enough to prevent Goole 2s securing a comprehensive victory 39 points to 5. Goole's tries came from Tom Drury, Ollie Raynor (2) on his return to play for the club where he played his mini rugby several years ago, Jake Parkinson, Luke Darley, Josh Malcolmson, also returning after a good spell out of the game and Thomas “Taf” Franks on his second team debut, Franks also adding 2 conversions to cap a fine performance at no. 10.
Unfortunately, given their extensive unavailability issues, (many players attending the Rugby World cup quarter finals in France!) Scarborough were unable to field a 3rd team so Goole 3s were without a game at the weekend.
Saturday sees the visit to Westfield of undefeated League leaders and local rivals Selby, who will be clear favourites for the game given Goole’s recent dip in form, but with hopefully injured players returning, a full bloodied local derby should be the order of the day. The clubs 2nd and 3rd teams are also playing each other, the 2s at Selby and the 3s at Goole.
