The Magnificent 7: – 7 Tries Seal 7th Straight Victory for U15’s.

Philip Ounsley

U15's

A dry morning welcomed Lincoln U15’s to Westfield for the first meeting at this age group. The Goole team needed adjustment from last week’s win at Heath as Kieran, Ross, Joel, Oliver and William were unavailable and in came Jack, Tom, Marshall and Edward.

Goole made a tentative start to the game allowing Lincoln early possession and territory. It was therefore no surprise when Lincoln went over the try-line for the first score. (0-5).

Goole needed to regroup and quickly if they were going to avoid the score board from gathering momentum against them, and regroup they did not only equaling the score but a brace of tries from Joseph gave Goole a slender lead. (10-5). Both teams were working hard to stamp their authority on the game and Lincoln leveled with a well worked try (10-10).

The most pleasing element of this Goole team is the belief and support they have for each other and the trigger was fired for converted tries from Joseph and Milosz half time: 24 -10.

Goole were going to be made to dig well into their reserves if they were going to maintain superiority as they were against the wind in the 2nd half and Lincoln also had the benefit of bringing on fresh legs.

Things looked ominous when a converted try brought Lincoln within one converted score (24-17) but Goole extended their lead with a converted try of their own (Joseph) (31-17). Lincoln persistence was rewarded with their final try of the day (31-22). However gaps were appearing in the Lincoln line and despite Brodie’s best efforts it was Joseph who exploited the space to run in 2 more trade mark tries and 1 conversion.

Final Score Goole U15’s 43 – 22 Lincoln U15’s.

The U15’s winning streak extends to 7 games and concludes a season that has been a privilege being associated with the team. Thanks go to the many people associated with the team, within the club and the wider rugby community.

This game was also potentially the last for Tiger and Denvor who have contributed a great deal and remained loyal to this age group for many seasons. If the situation allows they will be welcome back anytime and leave with the best wishes from the U15’s Team and Goole Rugby Club.
